About

My name is James Maxwell, I’m 24 and I live in Patterson Lakes South East of Melbourne.

I finished the SEDA program in 2014 doing a Diploma of Sport Development. I then applied through VTAC to start at University and had numerous offers come through. I had the choice between a double degree at Vic Uni, Sports Management degree at Deakin, or the chance to go into Holmesglen’s Sports Media degree. I chose the Sport Management degree at Deakin. I did this for a semester and a half before I quit and got a full time job at a timber yard. I was there for two weeks before an offer came through to do teaching at Swinburne Online.

I did the teaching course for two and a half semesters before I knew I really wanted to do the Sports Media course in the second semester of 2016. I enrolled and here we are today, still in the course and loving it. I wish I had of chosen the course in the first place, but that is how life goes sometimes.

I play cricket at Casey South Melbourne CC in the Premier Cricket League with aspirations to play 1st XI. I used to play local football at Bonbeach FC, but I have taken the year off to focus on cricket and study. I hope next year I am back playing for the sharks.

When I finish my degree, I am open to any job that comes my way, whether it is communications, social media, journalism, marketing or even sponsorship.
